Opportunity:
Hospital employed opportunity. Physician will have the ability to do EGD, Colonoscopy, ERCP, PEG Tube, Esophageal manometry, capsule endoscopy.

CASE LOAD:
All physicians averaging over 3500 per year, averaged 280 cases/month.
Average 50-65 EUS cases per year. (May increase with new providers joining in June)

HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT:
Olympus scopes and video equipment, everything is monitored, and a new Provation Medical Documentation System (electronic medical record, sends orders to office, post op notes dictated and printed, consults to other physicians – helps with coding and billing). The Provation system does interface with the Olympus system. All 180 scopes, and soon to be getting 190 scopes. Brand new HD monitors in every room. All endo rooms are former OR rooms. Dr. Houghton is doing approximately 15 ERCP’s/mos.

Call: Approximately 1 in 3 call, and 11-12 days per month.

Compensation:
Option #1: Base salary of $463,000 (for those just completing training) with additional compensation for experience with a guaranteed salary for 2 years. Can be switched to a wRVU production contract when exceeding target. (5% less for those not yet boarded, switched when become boarded.)
Option #2:  Base salary of $599,000 (5% less if not yet boarded) for one year and will then transition to the wRVU model.
Vacation: 4 weeks plus holidays/sick days (29 PTO days)
CME/Books & Journals: 5 days and up to $5,000.

2 year contract also includes:

Deferred compensation: 457b plan. Defer compensation up to IRS limit of $18,000 year before taxes. No matching.
Retirement / Savings Plan: 403b plan. Defer compensation up to IRS limit of $18,000 year before taxes under age 50 and $24,000 for over age 50. SOMC matches dollar for dollar up to 2% of base pay.
Moving Expense: $10,000 paid to moving company
Malpractice Insurance Coverage: in a claims made insurance, in an amount of $1,000,000, per claim/$3,000,000, aggregate. 10% of tail is covered for each year of service at SOMC.
Health Insurance: physician pays small premium, deducted from paycheck
Liquidated Damages: 70 mile and 2 year liquidated damages (non-complete) clause or payment of one year salary to remain practicing in the area
Medical School Loan Repayment: repay up to $200,000 ($25,000 per year for each year of service commitment)
Community emergency response plan (CERP) – pay for call – explained by CFO
Sign on Bonus – $50,000 (paid when contract signed and forgiven over 2 years)’

Regular OR Hours: Elective surgery scheduled Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Newer Construction: $100 million in new construction, expansion and refurbishment: Patient care addition; nursing units and 100 private beds – opened July 2009 Open heart/cardiac unit – open Dec. 2008 New clinical laboratory New medical library New front entrance New Surgery and Emergency Department New lounge and physician area and Additional parking for physicians
Maternity Department: 11 Private LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Post), 1,600 deliveries per year, 5 room triage area, 3 rooms for surgery patients, surgical room, holding nursery, and a 6 bed special care nursery.
Critical Care Department: 16 ICU rooms (15 private), Circular floor set-up, Break away doors, sleeping rooms for on-call staff and medical students, and large waiting room with restrooms and vending machines.
Emergency Department: 23 beds (21 private) and 4 chairs, special pediatric room, drive-up lane, using computerized radiography (filmless), 2 x-ray rooms and a STAT lab – expanding to 47 beds.

Teaching opportunities: SOMC has 3rd and 4th year medical students; Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, and OB/Gyn teaching and preceptorship experiences. Staff eligible for Clinical Adjunct Faculty status with Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.
